Zsolt Tari

Engineer · Martial Artist

🌄 Shaped by Mountains & Eastern Cultures

Welcome. I'm Zsolt Tari, born in a tiny Hungarian village cradled at the foot of the Mátra – the country's highest mountain range. My family's roots run over a thousand years deep in that same earth, planted by ancestors whose stories I now carry in both parchment and DNA. That village, Mátraverebély, is a place of spiritual crossroads: a famed Christian pilgrimage shrine (Szentkút) on one side, and one of Hungary's most revered Buddhist temples on the other. Those twin currents of faith and stillness shaped my childhood and still echo in everything I do.

📚 The Path from Village to Capital

Grammar School – Mátraverebély
Educated in the mountain village that my ancestors founded, I grew up surrounded by forest trails and whispered legends of Pecheneg chiefs and Germanic knights.
Secondary School – Salgótarján
I moved to the county seat for a major in electronics and electro-technics, building the foundations of a technical mind.
University – Óbuda University, Budapest
A hundred kilometres from home, I earned a degree in Telecommunications Engineering, immersing myself in electronics, IT, computer networks, and the vibrant capital city.
"It was in the student hostel that I discovered karate – a Japanese discipline steeped in Zen and Shinto – a perfect echo of the Buddhist temple that had stood near my childhood home."

🌍 Global Tech, Local Roots

International Experience

After university, I entered the world of mobile telecommunications, working with a global leader and travelling extensively as an unmarried professional. My assignments spanned 17 countries – across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Each place left its mark, but the Mátra always called me back.

Bioinformatics, Life Science & AI (since 2014)

Since 2014, I have been working for a Switzerland based bioinformatics company that develops enterprise software accelerating biopharmaceutical R&D. My role focuses on Linux server and network infrastructure – a responsibility that blends deep IT with the cutting edge of life sciences. It's a position where every day I see how genetic data transforms medicine, which naturally led me to explore my own genome.

🥋 Body, Mind, and the Dojo

Karate has been a constant since my university years. What began as a hostel class became a lifelong practice – a Japanese art influenced by Zen Buddhism and Shinto, the same spiritual currents that brushed my childhood near the Buddhist temple of the Mátra. Today, training is both a physical discipline and a moving meditation.

Beyond the dojo, I'm committed to overall fitness. I've never smoked, never drank alcohol, and I prioritise physical well‑being as a foundation for a clear mind and a long, adventurous life.

📵 Off the Grid, On Purpose

You won't find me on social media. I keep a deliberately minimal digital footprint – not out of distrust, but because I value deep, uninterrupted time. This website is my only real public presence, a quiet space where technology, genetics, and personal history can live together without distraction.
